Saying goodbye for now

The end came
Swiftly,
A part of life's game
Claiming me inevitably,
Saying goodbye for now.

The tears flow
Freely,
Mourning loss of life's glow
Clasping your hands quietly,
Saying goodbye for now.

I lived, loved and gave
Happily,
From heaven above I wave
To my dear ones lovingly,
Saying goodbye for now.

From you, I learned and grew
Wondrously,
Clinging to memories of you
Tenderly,
Saying goodbye for now.

We have to let go, however hard
Unwillingly,
But over you, I will guard
Unwaveringly,
Saying goodbye for now.

In my heart, your words will remain
Eternally,
I will let go but my love for you will never wane
Infinitely,
Saying goodbye for now.

This poem is for my dear friend, who buried her beloved father today.
