When I took out the Freezermate containing a portion of chicken for defrosting, I honestly could not make up my mind what to do with it. There’s another Marion Grasby’s recipe that I’m itching to try as I suspect it would tantalise hubby’s tastebuds. However, I don’t have one of its key ingredients and during this MCO, I’m certainly not going to run out to the shop to get the tamarind sauce. I will have to make do with what’s available in my kitchen. And then I heard the stalks of scallion singing out to me and spotted the ginger grinning quietly at me. So, hubby was served the humble Ginger and Scallion Chicken (姜葱鸡).
Not my favourite dish, but I’m really running out of ideas |
As much as we love the luffa, it is, admittedly, not easy to select a choice piece. I usually make my pick and then turn on the charm to ask my regular vegetable seller if I’d done it right. My charm seems to work for Ah Khay would either assure me I’d selected the right piece or he would, wordlessly, make a switch for me. This time, the task of buying the luffa fell into hubby’s hands. He came back with two pieces, one of which could have qualified for a senior citizen’s card. I had to discard that and improvise on another luffa dish.

I love ginger and scallion chicken. Could eat a lot of rice with it.
