MCO - Day 28

14 April 2020     Day 28 of Movement Control Order

One of our most memorable meals in Japan (well, to be honest, almost every single meal we had in Japan was really sumptuous) was in a yoshoku (Japanese-styled Western food) restaurant. We had the tastiest hambagu (Hamburg steak) in Grimm Harajuku in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. Apparently, the Japanese love the Hamburg steak and it’s commonly cooked in Japanese households.

Riding high on the success of the meatballs I made last week, I decided to try making the Hamburg steak tonight. Instead of serving it with rice, as the Japanese usually do, I served mine with mashed potatoes. Mmm...what a scrumptious way to end Phase 2 of MCO!

One lil rabbit clambered up Mashed Potato Hill, one scaled  Mount Hamburg Steak, and one sadly just failed to climb!
And the cute lil rabbits? A personal triumph. Sadly, I am a very uncreative and unartistic person. But ever since I saw my ex-student decorate his food with these cherry tomato rabbits during last year’s Sam Tet Masterchef competition, I was intrigued and wondered if I could pull it off. And today, I did! 🤩🥳 Hubby was so impressed that he could not stop taking pictures of them and even went to the extent of weaving a story around the rabbits and the Hamburg steak.

Once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t too difficult to create these lil rabbits
